“Kasa Obake” depicts the mischievous Yokai (Japanese folk spirit) of the same name. Kasa Obake is a tsukomogami or “tool spirit.” These are household objects that have reached the age of 100 or more and have become animated by … that fact. Traditional Japanese artwork depicts them gathering to complain about their owners and worship their very own pantheon of gods.
