Mildewds
A procedural ecosystem of affable mushroom characters for your NFT collection, avatars and walls.
A Unique Collection
Created by Ian Strandberg (VoidStrummer) and Jaime McGough, Mildewds is an artistic exploration of the potential and limits of procedural character creation in Blender.
Using first-on-the-chain ideas we’re able to generate expressive characters that feel like more than dead-eyed mannequins trying on sunglasses. Our characters already feature naturalistic variation and we’re working to bring out stronger personalities and individual narratives.
Every Mildewd is one-of-a-kind across all blockchains. Whether you collect art and NFTs for decoration, personal joy, patronage or investment, you can rest assured that your dewd is the only dewd like it.
Meet the Artists
Much of the creative and technical work to create Mildewds is undertaken live online.
You can join Ian (VoidStrummer) and often Jaime on YouTube or Twitch every week to learn more about our methods, thought process and actual tools. We answer questions, share insights and even code and technology when asked nicely.
What’s the Plan?
-
First Flush
Primordia Saturnus is the first system we’re offering to the public. Our immediate plans are to build two more “species” and to firm up our ability to offer them for sale as NFTs.
After Primordia Saturnus (our first species) you can look forward to *Mustachiosa Recidivins* and a third set that we're leaving open to future community input as our project develops.
-
Second Flush
Once we’ve got the basics in place we’ll have a little room to explore more complex narratives.
At this stage we'll develop new species with an eye toward story. We'll explore environmental elements like lost toys as well as expressing relationships between the Mildewds and their surroundings.
-
Third Flush
The third and final flush of Mildewds will incorporate everything we've learned so far to help us create the most elaborate and expressive scenes that we can.
We'll also examine and offer limited quantities of physical items such as one-of-a-kind figures, prints and other artifacts of the project.
If we've managed to build an interested following by this stage, we'll also do our utmost to offer tools and techniques derived from our Mildewds systems free of charge to our community.
