Commander Corgi on the SOL

Commander Corgi on the SOL is a tribute to pulp adventure art, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and cute dogs. It was designed to entertain and amuse with an absurd frenzy of dog-on-space action.

To convey a sense of frenetic activity I layered many elements that only make sense if you understand them as frozen in a precise moment. Sparks, munitions, smoke and debris are inherently imbued with the kinetic energy of violent intent.

Commander Corgi on the SOL is a 16 megapixel still image depicting a spacefaring pup, under heavy fire, in the act of defending his home using the station's robotic defense batteries. The light and shade are a combination of path tracing, digital painting and procedural manipulation. I composed the final image from dozens of separate elements custom designed for this project.
