Tales of Fruit
Tales of Fruit #1
Tales of Fruit #1 is my first public work to visit a future in which genetic manipulation, human divergence and economic collapse have congealed into a life experience far different from our own.
Here I picture a damp, furtive crevice in a traveling menagerie of hybrids and homunculi. The the descendants of trivial gene-editing and the death of empathy are coming to your encampment to put on a show.
In Tales of Fruit #1 I use a realistic visual style and animation to enhance the viewer experience of atmosphere, disgust and empathy.

Tales of Fruit #1 is a 665 kilopixel/frame, ten second looping video depicting a cyclopean pear sealed in a jar full of dripping condensation. The base light and shade are rendered using path tracing. I created the droplets and many of the surfaces using custom pattern generators. The final animation is composed of two images blended using methods typical of visual effects production.
